According to research conducted by the Regional Inventory (Archives department of Maine et Loire): « L'histoire de la meunerie est ancienne à Gasté puisqu'il existe un moulin à eau, signalé en 1405 (Chartier de Brissac, censive de la Varenne, t.3, f° 1). In the 16th century there is also a windmill in chandelier, Olivier Berritault, also owner of the water mill, sells on 19 March 1570, at Lézin Bonneau (Chartier de Brissac, censive de la Varenne, t.3,f° 87,88). The second windmill Gasté (type CAVIER) is mentioned in the state sections of the cadastre of the municipality of Grézillé, established in 1837. It is very likely that the owner has built the mill (type CAVIER) during the year 1819. The mill was converted to 1870-1880 and consisted, probably, to equip the mill wings Berton, in planks, and enhance the Massereau." The mill had to cease its activity in 1914-1918. |
